How to get to Sibiu

By air: From abroad, Sibiu is most easily reachable by plane. Locally, there exists a small international airport with direct flights from certain European cities: Austrian Airlines from Viena, Tarom from Munich. There are a lot more flights available which require a stop either in Timisoara (western part of Romania) or Bucharest (in this case one has also to change the airport from Otopeni to Baneasa - 20 minutes taxi ride). Once at the airport in Sibiu, you can take a taxi to your hotel, which should be at a reasonable price, given the rather short distances. For example, a ride from the airport to Ramada Hotel should take about 15 minutes and should cost less than the equivalent of 10 Euros (~35 Lei).

By train, bus: From Bucharest: There are trains departing regularly from Gara de Nord in Bucharest (3 times a day), the trip takes about 6 hours. Alternatively, from Bucharest to Sibiu one can take a bus from Militari Bus station, the trip being usually shorter, depending on traffic.
