The “ALICE Workshop” is planned for discussions on the status of the ALICE-TRD subdetector from construction accomplishment to full implementation, to provide a comprehensive view on the present and future AliEn Grid facility and to tackle various physics topics especially those for which the TRD information plays an important role.

If you wish to be considered for a presentation, please include a title in the registration information. The registration fee is 100 EUR. We accept only cash. Please pay the fee at the registration desk during the workshop. The deadline for the registration is August 10, 2008.


ACCOMODATION

The workshop's sessions will be held at Ramada Hotel, a four stars hotel located at the southern end of the historical center. The main touristic attractions are within walking distance (10-15 minutes) from there. Lunch will also be served at this location. In case that enough participants will choose to book a room at this hotel, there exists the possibility to obtain a fairly discounted price. To benefit from the special rates quoted for Workshop participants reservations should be made via the local organizers. Participants are of course free to choose a different location for their accommodation. In that case, however, all the details concerning their stay in Sibiu are to be dealt with individually. We would nevertheless like to suggest to chose a hotel/guesthouse within a 2-3 km range from Ramada Hotel. You could find a list with such possible locations on the Workshop's web page.


VISA

Colleagues from certain non-EU countries need a visa to enter Romania. Just let us know as soon as possible and we will arrange for letters of invitation that will facilitate the formalities.

 This year, between 20 - 24 August, the National Institute for Physics and
Nuclear Engineering (NIPNE) from Bucharest in collaboration with CERN, BMBF, GSI will organize an ALICE workshop in Sibiu, Romania, cultural capital of Europe in 2007.

 The aim of the workshop is to discuss the status of the ALICE-TRD
subdetector from construction accomplishment to full implementation, a
comprehensive view on the present and future AliEn Grid facility and
various physics topics especially those for which the TRD information
plays an important role.
